Penelope's: The best baked potato in the USA

Just the previous evening we ate at a another establishment. Granted, the baked potato was described as a side order but still, I have to admit:, I expected a little more; a little more potato, that is. The meal didn't fall short in taste in the least but the potato was only a quarter of the Penelope's serving and they were fresh out of sour cream - what a pity. So when Penelope's offered baked potato I wasn't quite sure what to expect.. Boy! Was I pleasantly surprised. The only thing I might have done differently is - Penelope's, are you reading this? -  melt the cheese.

This restaurant truly lives up to the "World Famous" part of their logo. On the wall, right next to where you place your order, is this map of the world with a rainbow of pins representing the hometowns of those who have enjoyed the good food and hospitality of this establishment. Seeing as the meals are freshly prepared - oh yes! no potato factory fries - you wait a little bit longer for a lot better tasting meal. And while you wait, what better to do than put your own personal touch to the map. Naturally I didn't have to be invited twice.

If you ever find yourself in this part of the woods (Colorado, USA) drop by and check it out. Their contact details, address and menu are conveniently available online at http://www.penelopesburgers.com/ Their food you simply to have to try for yourself!

Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, surrounded by National forests, is the charming little town of Estes Park, Colorado. It's a beautiful place in winter - picturesque. I imagine it's just as beautiful in summer but I loved the snow as a first introduction new years 2015.

Around lunchtime Garett wanted to know what I felt like eating. I've not had great junk food experiences in the US - no offence. Too much grease, too large portions and often way too much starch - not even a single leaf of lettuce in sight. At least that way you can fool yourself in pretending it's a more "balanced" meal (wink-wink).

Garett likes burgers but Penelope's definitely had me at "Baked Potatoes". I was not sorry. Good thing they added it to the sign or we may never have crossed the threshold. Am I glad we did!

The potatoes were out of this world!
